A regular passenger car requires a certain number of occupants before it can drive in a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane. The number of occupants required will be posted on the HOV sign. This is a HOV 2+ lane, so two or more occupants are required. The driver does count as an occupant, so you will only require one passenger to drive in a HOV lane with this sign.
