When passing another vehicle, you must return to the right side of the road before coming within 100 feet of an oncoming vehicle. (Even that legal minimum distance is cutting it rather close. If your vehicle and the oncoming vehicle are each traveling at 40 mph, the two vehicles will close a 100-foot distance between them in less than one second before they collide head-on.)
