Question:

You are on a four-lane roadway. You approach a school bus that has stopped with flashing red lights on the opposite side of the roadway. What must you do?

A Proceed with caution.
explanation

Normally, you must stop for a stopped school bus whose red lights are flashing, no matter which direction it is traveling in. In South Carolina, however, there are two exceptions to this rule. (1) You don't have to stop if the school bus is stopped on the opposite side of a roadway with at least four lanes. (2) You don't have to stop for a school bus that has stopped in an off-road loading zone where pedestrians are not allowed to cross the roadway. (Note: Not all states allow such exceptions. When traveling out of state, always check the local traffic laws.) [Stopped School Bus, General Information, South Carolina Driver's Manual]
