Alcoholic drinks differ by how much ethanol they contain. 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor, 5 ounces of wine, 12 ounces of beer, and 12 ounces of wine cooler all contain the same amount of ethanol. None is safer to drink than the others. It's the amount of ethanol, not the form of it, that matters.
