In Ohio, it is illegal for you to abandon your motor vehicle on someone else's property for more than 72 hours without his or her consent. It is also illegal for you to abandon your motor vehicle on a public street or roadway for more than 48 hours without notifying local law enforcement. Violation is considered a minor misdemeanor. If you are convicted, you will have to pay a fine of up to $150 plus any costs incurred by the community in disposing of the motor vehicle.
