Before you enter a public road from an alley or driveway, what must you do?

Under South Carolina law, when leaving an alley, a driveway, or a private road to enter a public road in a business or residential district, you must stop before driving onto the sidewalk or sidewalk area and then yield to pedestrians. Yield the right-of-way to approaching vehicles before you enter the public road. [Stopping, Cars: The Road Test, South Carolina Driver's Manual], [SC Code § 56-5-2745]
